We had quite a few members today including some new members.
Lisa welcomed everyone and then started with a short picture quiz for members to identify movie titles. This was a little challenging but became easier with a little help from Mark.
Lisa then gave members some poems to read and asked members to read verses. Members enjoyed reading the poems.
Lisa then introduced Maria a visitor from McAlpine Care which is based in Barnet. Everyone welcomed her and she explained a little about the services they provide.
The session then followed with exercises led by Annalisa which is always very enjoyable and then followed with James Le Bec and his music entertainment and music quiz. Everyone had a lovely time singing and dancing.

Today was as usual a very busy session. I was unfortunately short of volunteers. Melvyn thankfully set up for me but had to leave and I was grateful that Lizzy our new volunteer was also available. As always however some of the carers step in to help making the teas and coffees which I am very thankful.
Lisa started with a quiz about classic films which members found very interesting and led to discussions. The session then followed with Lisa reading some jokes making everyone laugh. Members always look forward to the jokes. Two poems were then given out to members and Lisa asked for different members to read verses from the poems.
At this point Mark arrived which was great for some extra help. The session then followed with singing from song sheets and some dancing to musical favourites. The session ended with Tovertafel which is always enjoyed by members.
Everyone left with a smile. Thank you to my volunteers – Melvyn, Lizzy and Mark and also to some of the carers.

Everyone enjoyed the activities which included colouring-in, golf, poetry reading with Lisa, two quizzes (one of which was a musical quiz), and Chair Yoga led by Richard our "Yoga Master".
The musical part of the afternoon got everyone singing and dancing. Thank you Joy for supporting James Lebec with his uplifting musical entertainment, and for a great end to the afternoon dancing the Hokey Cokey.
Thank you to the team from Edgware and Stanmore: Dr Nandini Varma, Margaret Matchet, and Sonia Hirsh. and Daryl Heard (Business Manager Metro Bank) and the team from Northwick Park: Mollie Hacking, Ritu Kapur, June Nathan and Helen Antoniou all made the afternoon go with a swing. The refreshments were very welcome on arrival with everyone sitting and enjoying the company and the conversation.
We had 2 visitors - Daryl Heard (Business Manager from Metro Bank) and first time visitor, Natalie Crampton from Appletree Court Care home in Burnt Oak. Both our visitors really enjoyed the session and joined in with the activities. Thank you Mark and Lisa for your help and support: a most enjoyable afternoon!!

A lovely lady called Jane did some fun exercises with our members which everyone thoroughly enjoyed!
This was followed by a lively session of entertainment provided by the very talented James LeBec. James sang a variety of popular songs to which many of the members and helpers danced. He also did a music quiz and our members had to guess the name of the song! It was great fun! The atmosphere was fantastic!
After James left, the members continued to chat and there was also table tennis & darts for those that wanted to play! 22 members and carers attended the session with the assistance of six helpers from the synagogue who were:- Justine, Gilda, Stephen, Caroline, Dot & Judy."
