This was as usual a very busy session. Even though the Christmas party is the following week on the 19th December, today was definitely like a Christmas party. Lisa played some Christmas music and everyone was singing. There was mince pies and other lovely cakes and also Christmas crackers.

Lisa started with a picture quiz asking members to find the names of the people. The clue was that all the names would have Noel or Carol or Holly as part of their name. Although it was challenging, with a few more clues everyone did well and they enjoyed it.

It was then time for musical entertainment. We had someone completely new for the first time. His name is Dennis Grimes and he was absolutely fantastic. His choice of music got every single person up and dancing.

It was lovely to see Arzu and Melissa who came to offer their help today and also thank you to our usual volunteers Melvyn, Eleanor and Dr Angela.

This was a very happy session and everyone is looking forward to next Wednesday.

Today’s session was led by Valerie one of the Trustees of Dementia Club UK and helped and assisted by Volunteers Annette and Theresa and Rotarians Dick Selby and his wife Valerie, Kuljit Singh and his wife Satwan and Michael Iacovou.

It was lovely to see so many members attend today and lovely to see Rotarian Dick and his wife Valerie in their Christmas jumpers. Lisa welcomed the members and introduced Valerie to lead the session.

Members started with some quizzes that Lisa prepared which members found challenging but with some clues provided was made easier. Annette also gave some Q and A’s which she had prepared which members found to be great fun.

It was then time for some Yoga exercises with Richard which members always enjoy. Richard extended his time today providing members with not only exercises but also some fun game activities. Richard always creates a fun way of exercising.

Everyone enjoyed the session and were given a Christmas cracker to take home. My thanks to all our volunteers again and also Kim from Stephens House & Gardens who was serving the teas and coffees today instead of Risom who was on other special duties.

This was our first session today at this new venue. Dementia Club UK is delighted to be working in association with GLL Barnet.

It was a bit of a problem getting to the venue room because of the new building works but to our surprise we had quite a few members and we also had 5 new members.

Although the room was small it was pleasant and it had a great view of the world famous swimming pool which members enjoyed looking at. Lisa welcomed everyone and members enjoyed their teas and coffees and lovely cakes whilst chatting. Annalisa then did some seated exercises with the members which was really good fun. James then arrived with Joy and was ready to provide some musical entertainment. Members really had a great time singing and dancing and also listening to some Christmas songs.

This was a very successful first session and everyone was very happy. However as building works are continuing for a few months at Copthall, the decision is that the sessions will be held at Burnt Oak until the new building is built at Copthall.
